ΤΟ ΘΡΥΛΙΚΟ ΣΕΡΑΙ ΤΟΥ ΣΑΜΗ ΜΠΕΗ ΣΤΙΣ ΑΡΧΑΝΕΣ Στις Αρχάνες, στη θέση που είναι σήμερα το κλειστό Γυμναστήριο, ένα κτίριο μεγαλόπρεπο που ανήκε παλιά στο Μουσταφά πασά και αργότερα στο Σαμή μπέη. To έλεγαν Κονάκι ή Σεράι και σήμερα ακόμη η συνοικία και η εξοχική περιοχή εκεί γύρω, ακούγεται “στου Σαμ-μπέη”. Κατεδαφίστηκε αμέσως μετά την Τουρκοκρατία και μάλιστα με οργή και μίσος από τους χριστιανούς του τόπου, διότι όπως λέγει η πληροφορία εκεί γίνονταν όργια σε βάρος των χριστιανών. Δεν φρόντισε όμως κανείς αργότερα στα χρόνια που ακολούθησαν, όσο ζούσαν ακόμη οι τότε κάτοικοι χριστιανοί, να καταγράψει επαρκείς πληροφορίες για το χώρο αυτό και το ρόλο που διαδραμάτισε ειδικά τα τελευταία χρόνια της ύπαρξής του. Φήμες μόνο κι αυτές σκόρπιες και διάχυτες, ότι το Κονάκι σαν κτίριο ήταν μεγαλόπρεπο με όλο τον περιβάλλοντα χώρο του, και ότι όντως είχαν συμβεί “τέρατα και σημεία” στο χώρο του. Εν τω μεταξύ μύθοι και θρύλοι που διαδίδονται μεταξύ των κατοίκων των Αρχανων, άγριοι και τρομακτικοί έχουν περιβάλει το Σεράι. Απομονωμένο όπως ήταν από τον οικισμό, οι Αρχανιώτες πιστεύουν ότι αποτελούσε το κέντρο εξυφάνσεως αγριοτήτων των μουσουλμάνων εναντίον των χριστιανών. Καθώς εκεί διοργανώνονται συνεχώς εορτές και γλέντια από τους Τούρκους ιδιοκτήτες, θεωρείται ότι οι γιορτές αυτές έχουν οργιαστικό χαρακτήρα κάτι που κυριολεκτικά εξοργίζει τους χριστιανούς κατοίκους της περιοχής. Αυτές οι απόψεις καθόρισαν τελικώς και την τύχη του κτίσματος. THE LEGENDARY SERAI (TURKISH PALACE) OF SAMY BEI IN THE ARCHANES In Archanes, in the place where the closed Gymnasium is today, a magnificent building that used to belong to Mustafa Pasha and later to Sami Bey. They used to call it Konaki or Serai, and even today the district and the country area around it are called "in Sambey". It was demolished immediately after the Turkish occupation and indeed with anger and hatred from the Christians of the place, because as the information says, there were orgies at the expense of the Christians. However, no one took care later in the years that followed, while the then resident Christians were still alive, to record sufficient information about this place and the role it played especially in the last years of its existence. Rumors alone, scattered and widespread, that Konaki as a building was magnificent with all its surrounding area, and that "monsters and signs" had indeed occurred in its area. Meanwhile myths and legends spread among the inhabitants of the Archanes, wild and terrifying have surrounded the Serai. Isolated as it was from the settlement, the Archanes people believe that it was the center of atrocities of the Muslims against the Christians. As holidays and feasts are constantly organized there by the Turkish owners, it is considered that these celebrations have an orgiastic character, which literally enrages the Christian residents of the area. These opinions ultimately determined the fate of the building.
