ΤΟ ΒΟΥΛΙΣΜΕΝΟ ΑΛΩΝΙ Μερικά χιλιόμετρα έξω από το Ηράκλειο, στον δρόμο που συνδέει την πόλη με το Ρέθυμνο, ένα φαινόμενο της φύσης έχει αναδειχθεί σε τοπικό αξιοθέατο. Το ονομαζόμενο βουλισμένο αλώνι αποτελεί ένα μυστηριώδες σημείο όπου η τεράστια καθίζηση του εδάφους δεν μπορεί να εξηγηθεί ούτε από τους επιστήμονες. Ανεξήγητο γεγονός για το οποίοι οι κάτοικοι της γύρω περιοχής έσπευσαν να βρουν μία εξήγηση, συνδέοντας το με τον Προφήτη Ηλία. Σταδιακά λοιπόν διαδόθηκε ο θρύλος του κρητικού γεωργού που τόλμησε να εργαστεί στο συγκεκριμένο αλώνι ανήμερα της εορτής του Προφήτη Ηλία παρά την αντίθετη γνώμη της συζύγου του. Βλέπεται η εξαιρετική καλοκαιρινή σοδειά τον έβαλε σε ανησυχίες και θέλησε να μαζέψει του καρπούς πριν τους καταστρέψει μια ξαφνική κακοκαιρία. Έτσι, το ζευγάρι μαζί με την κατά τον θρύλο πανέμορφη κόρη του, πήγαν στο χωράφι νωρίς το πρωί και χωρίς καθυστερήσεις ξεκίνησαν να δουλεύουν. Η νεαρή κοπέλα τραγουδούσε. Μέσα σε μια στιγμή όμως φύσηξε έντονος άνεμος και άκουσαν έναν εκκωφαντικό θόρυβο. Η γη τραντάχτηκε και πριν η οικογένεια προλάβει να αντιδράσει και να απομακρυνθεί από το αλώνι, το έδαφος υποχώρησε και τους «κατάπιε». Ο άγιος τιμώρησε εκείνους που τον προσβάλαν και ο θρύλος εκείνης της ημέρας έφθασε μέχρι την εποχή μας όπου αρκετοί υποστηρίζουν πως κάθε χρόνο στις 20 Ιουλίου που είναι η γιορτή του Προφήτη Ηλία, από το βουλισμένο αλώνι ακούγονται τριξίματα και η φωνή της κοπέλας. THE SUBMERGED THRESHING FLOOR A few kilometers outside of Heraklion, on the road that connects the city to Rethymnon, a phenomenon of nature has become a local attraction. The so-called clogged threshing floor is a mysterious place where the enormous subsidence of the soil cannot be explained even by scientists. An inexplicable event for which the residents of the surrounding area rushed to find an explanation, linking it to the Prophet Elias. Gradually, the legend of the Cretan farmer who dared to work at the threshing floor on the day of the feast of the Prophet Elias, despite the contrary opinion of his wife, spread. Apparently, the excellent summer harvest made him worried and he wanted to gather his fruits before a sudden bad weather destroyed them. So, the couple together with their legendarily beautiful daughter, went to the field early in the morning and without delay began to work. The young lady was singing. But in a moment a strong wind blew and they heard a deafening noise. The earth shook and before the family could react and move away from the threshing floor, the ground gave way and "swallowed" them. The saint punished those who insulted him and the legend of that day has reached our times where many claim that every year on July 20, which is the feast of the Prophet Elias, creaking sounds and the voice of the girl are heard from the clogged threshing floor.
