Ο ΜΙΤΟΣ ΤΗΣ ΑΡΙΑΔΝΗΣ Ο Μίνωας ήταν ο πρώτος βασιλιάς που κυριάρχησε στη Μεσόγειο θάλασσα και εξάλειψε τους πειρατές κυβερνώντας πάνω από 90 πολιτείες στην Κρήτη. Όταν οι Αθηναίοι δολοφόνησαν το γιο του, Ανδρογέα άρχισε πόλεμο εναντίον τους, ο οποίος διήρκεσε μεγάλο χρονικό διάστημα. Ο Μίνωας παρακάλεσε το Δία να εκδικηθεί για το θάνατο του Ανδρογέα. Μετά την πρόκληση μίας σειράς σεισμών από το Δία, οι Αθηναίοι συμβουλεύτηκαν το μαντείο των Δελφών, το οποίο τους απάντησε να ικανοποιήσουν οποιοδήποτε αίτημα του Μίνωα. Ο Μίνωας ζήτησε να στέλνονται εφτά νέοι και εφτά νέες κάθε εννιά χρόνια στην Κρήτη σα θυσία για το Μινώταυρο. Ο Θησέας γιος του Αιγαία, του βασιλιά των Αθηνών, αποφάσισε να πάει μαζί με τους νέους και τις νέες που θα θυσιαζόταν στην Κρήτη. Ο θεός Διόνυσος την παντρεύτηκε αμέσως μετά την εγκατάλειψή της από το Θησέα. He then used the string to find his way back to the entrance of the maze. Theseus and Ariadne escaped from Crete, but on the way to Athens, Theseus abandoned Ariadne on an island. The god Dionysus married her immediately after she was abandoned by Theseus.
