ΒΑΦΤΙΣΗ Η βάπτιση του παιδιού ήταν μεγάλη γιορτή για την οικογένεια. Η επιλογή του σύντεκνου (αναδόχου) γινόταν με κάποια κριτήρια, στις περισσότερες περιπτώσεις ο σύντεκνος επιλεγόταν από το πατέρα του παιδιού για να επισφραγίσει μια φιλία ή εκτίμηση, σε άλλες περιπτώσεις η επιλογή του σύντεκνου γινόταν για να σβήσει μια βεντέτα ή ακόμα και για να γίνει φίλος της οικογένειας ένας δυνατός παράγοντας της τοπικής κοινωνίας. Ο νονός επέλεγε μερικές δεκάδες αξιόλογα άτομα, ικανά στο χορό και το τραγούδι και πήγαιναν στην εκκλησία για την τέλεση του μυστηρίου της βάπτισης του παιδιού. Τα παλιά χρόνια δεν πήγαιναν οι γονείς στο ναό, αργότερα άλλαξε το έθιμο και δεν πήγαινε η μητέρα του παιδιού, σήμερα πάνε όλοι. Μετά το μυστήριο κρατώντας το παιδί πήγαιναν στο σπίτι του παιδιού όπου ακολουθούσε διασκέδαση με τραγούδια και μαντινάδες, χορό, άφθονο κρασί και γεύμα πλουσιοπάροχο. Το γλέντι συνεχιζόταν για περισσότερες της μιας ημέρας, με τους συγγενείς των γονέων να παίρνουν στα σπίτια τους νονούς και να τους τραπεζώνουν. Στον αποχαιρετισμό έδιναν στον νονό μια υφαντή πετσέτα και ένα σακούλι γεμάτο με κρέας. Οι σύντεκνοι είχαν αμοιβαίο σεβασμό πάντα μεταξύ τους. After the sacrament, holding the child, they went to the child's house where entertainment followed with songs and mandinades, dancing, plenty of wine and a rich meal. The feast continued for more than a day, with the relatives of the parents taking the godparents to their homes and bankrolling them. At farewell, the godfather was given a woven towel and a bag full of meat. The godfather and the parents of child always had mutual respect for each other.
